Do you have any leftover Composite Decking Boards or Decking offcuts from your Summer Decking project and aren’t sure what to do with them?

In this article, we take a look at the ways in which you can reuse any spare or cut-to-size Decking Boards to create stylish garden accessories, furniture and functional outdoor kitchen units – as inspired by @gurneydesign.

Henry Gurney, founder of @gurneydesign is an industrial design student who has worked within the commercial furniture sector developing award-winning designs and goods. Now, he creates bespoke outdoor living products that stand the test of time thanks to their solid build, made using only quality materials with uncomplicated design.

Gurney Design’s ethos is to “blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors, creating a seamless transition between your home and outside space”.

Cladco Composite Decking Boards are a high-quality and durable alternative to real-wood decking, with multiple benefits over timber. Due to the wood-plastic composition of the Boards, there is no need to sand, varnish or paint them, making for the ideal material to build furniture and accessories for outside use with - as well as Decking of course!

These incredible garden planters have been made using Cladco Woodgrain Composite Decking Boards that have been fitted within a strong, powder-coated aluminium frame. The authentic woodgrain texture of the Boards recreates the look and feel of natural timber, without any fear of the Boards rotting or warping when used as planters and filled with damp compost, for example. The Composite material can also be easily drilled through the base of the planters for additional water drainage, without splitting or warping.

As well as planters, Gurney Design uses our Composite Decking Boards to construct unique garden kitchens. Known as “Helios” this simple yet multi-functional range of outdoor countertops, stools and bars are designed to be an extension of your social space - ideal for cocktail-making, eating and entertaining guests outside.

The modular aluminium framed units can be custom-designed to suit any request, whether you’re looking for a single unit or multiple pieces - this range is founded upon simplicity and practicality. With eight colours from our Composite Range to choose from, the Helios range provides the freedom of choice to create a personal outside space.
