About Our Wood Effect 4m Composite Decking Boards

If you are looking to transform your outdoor space with a realistic wood-effect decking area, our reversible 4m woodgrain effect composite decking boards are the perfect choice. Featuring narrow grooves on one side and a detailed woodgrain effect on the other, these durable, low-maintenance boards elevate your garden or outdoor spaces with with both style and practicality.

Cladco composite decking offers multiple benefits over timber decking, including resistance to rotting, splintering, warping, and insect damage. Unlike timber, our Signature boards require no staining, varnishing, or painting. To maintain their appearance, we recommend regular cleaning using Cladco composite decking cleaner  to remove dirt and debris. For boards that have faded over time, a composite decking reviver can help restore their original colour.

For enhanced protection against UV rays, stains, mould, and colour fading, consider our premium ProDeck range of composite decking.

To qualify for the extended 15-year warranty, we advise installing Signature composite decking boards onto a Cladco recycled plastic decking subframe, and following our installation guide.

Supporting Trims and Fixings

To support a clean and efficient installation, the Signature range includes a selection of matching trims and accessories, including:

Corner trims
Joists
Fixings
Cladco high strength sealant

For consistent board spacing and easier installation - especially at butt joints - we recommend using T-clips. These contribute to a professional finish while allowing rainwater to drain effectively, helping prevent surface pooling. For a more streamlined appearance with narrower gaps between boards hidden clips are also available.

Colour Variation & Installation Advice

Due to the high timber content of composite decking, natural colour variation and weathering are to be expected. In the first few months after installation, your boards will go through an initial colour stabilisation process, which may be affected by sun exposure and local weather conditions.

To minimise shade variation:

Order all required boards in one batch
Inspect and mix boards before installation for a more consistent, blended finish
Be aware that boards may appear different in wet and dry conditions, which can make tonal differences more noticeable

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know how much decking I need?

Simply enter the dimensions of the area you wish to deck into our online decking calculator to work out how many boards and additional composite extras you will need.

Do Cladco do different lengths in this composite decking?

Yes, our Signature composite decking boards come in both 2.4m and 4m lengths.

Do composite boards display variations in shade?

Our Signature composite boards are designed to replicate the natural appearance of timber while reducing maintenance. The pigments used in the manufacturing process may react differently with the timber content in each board, resulting in variations in shade. This is particularly noticeable between the 2.4m and 4m boards. The same applies to our composite decking trims, as they are made using the same composition.

Why does my decking appear darker under my furniture?

Composite decking requires time to acclimatise to outdoor environments. During the stabilisation period of around six months, sections of your decking that are not exposed to weathering, such as areas under furniture, will not weather at the same rate as the rest of your decking. If you expose these areas to the natural elements, they will gradually even out in colour as the previous boards have.

Why are watermarks appearing on my decking?

Watermarks are a common occurrence during the weathering process of composite products. As the tannins in the timber content of the boards come out, watermarks may appear. This is a temporary condition, and the marks will fade naturally as the decking stabilises over time.

Will plant pots leave stains on my decking?

Due to the porous nature of composite decking, prolonged contact with plant pots may cause staining. We recommend placing a mat underneath any pots to prevent this. This precaution should also be taken for other garden furniture.

Does my decking colour choice affect maintenance requirements?

If you choose to go for one of our lighter colours, such as ivory, your Signature decking is more likely to show dirt. To avoid this, you may need to clean your decking more often than if you were to choose a darker colour.

Why is it necessary to leave expansion gaps between composite decking boards?

Our Signature composite boards consist of 60% recycled timber. Due to the natural properties of timber, the boards expand and contract with temperature changes. Leaving appropriate expansion gaps between boards allows for this movement, reducing the risk of warping or splitting caused by restricted space. Adequate board spacing also facilitates cross ventilation, ensuring the longevity and stability of your decking.
