Achieve a Natural Timber Look with Low-Maintenance Composite Cladding

Cladco’s Signature woodgrain composite wall cladding delivers the authentic appearance of natural timber combined with the benefits of modern, low-maintenance materials. Featuring a realistic woodgrain texture, these boards offer a true timber effect without the need for painting, staining, sealing, or ongoing treatment. Once installed, they provide an immediate upgrade to exterior walls on both residential and commercial properties.

Made from a blend of recycled wood fibres and plastics, Signature composite cladding is an environmentally friendly choice. It offers a long-term, cost-effective alternative to traditional timber cladding, with enhanced resistance to rot, insects, and weathering.

Designed for versatility, Signature composite cladding can be installed horizontally or vertically to suit your project needs. The boards can be easily cut to size using standard woodworking tools and feature a tongue-and-groove interlocking system for a seamless, hidden-fix installation.

The Signature range of composite cladding includes a variety of trims and fixings to support a straightforward installation. Please note, this cladding offers a rainproof covering but is not a fully waterproof system.

Coverage and Installation

Each Cladco Signature woodgrain composite wall cladding board provides 135mm of coverage once installed. To ensure proper support and stability, it is recommended to fix the boards onto composite battens or timber battens at 500mm intervals. For detailed installation instructions, please refer to our comprehensive installation guide.

Colour Variations and Natural Weathering

We recommend purchasing all cladding boards in a single order to minimise batch variations, which can occur when ordering at different times. Minor colour differences between boards are normal, even within the same batch.

Due to the natural timber fibres within the Signature woodgrain composite cladding, a colour stabilisation process will take place during the first few months after installation. This is a normal reaction to exposure to sunlight and outdoor elements. Additionally, please note that the cladding will appear darker when wet than when dry.

Fire Resistance of Composite Cladding

Is composite cladding fireproof?

As a wood-plastic composite (WPC) product containing natural wood fibres, Cladco composite cladding is not fireproof and does not carry a specified fire rating, similar to traditional timber cladding.

While the product has undergone fire assessment testing, a full fire rating has not been pursued due to its natural components. For projects requiring a fire-rated solution, we recommend our fibre cement cladding boards, which are Class B fire-rated and offer enhanced safety.

Cladco Composite products are available as FSC® certified at no additional cost. Please request FSC® certified products when placing your order if required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Cladding have a fire class rating?

Please refer to our Accreditations page for full details on the fire class ratings of our products.

Is my Cladding maintenance-free?

Composite Cladding needs much less upkeep compared to traditional timber materials, however, it is not completely maintenance-free. Routine cleaning is essential to get rid of debris and stop potential staining. If your Cladding is located beneath overhanging trees, it is important to promptly clear leaves, petals, and sap to avoid surface marks. Additionally, water runoff from gutters and downpipes may stain the Boards, making regular maintenance vital to preserve their appearance.

Do Composite Boards fade?

Like any Composite material, our Cladding Boards go through a process of stabilisation where fading may happen until the final colour is reached. Stabilisation usually occurs during the first six months following installation. This is more evident in the woodgrain design, where shading variations can arise due to the process of sanding.

Why is airflow behind the composite cladding boards necessary?

Cladco composite cladding functions as a rain screen cladding option, which allows adequate airflow to enable proper ventilation of any rainwater that may penetrate the cladding. Without sufficient airflow, standing water will not evaporate, which can lead to mould spots on your cladding.

Why are watermarks appearing on my composite cladding?

Watermarks are a common occurrence when the weathering process in composite cladding is taking place, specifically with our Signature composite boards. Due to the tannins that are released from the timber contents of the cladding boards, the marks from water can become more apparent. This is temporary and will fade naturally over time.

Why is spacing at the ends of cladding boards required?

Ventilation behind your cladding boards is crucial for the evaporation of excess water. Allowing space at the ends of the boards, around the perimeter of your installation, provides an exit for air and improves moisture control.
